Everyone has their go-to composer. Composers can be like lucky charms for a film. Find one that works and you’ll rarely use anyone else. You’ve got Spielberg/Williams, Mendes/Newman, Reeves/Giacchino, Leone / Morricone, and Zemeckis/Silvestri.
Today is composer Alan Silvestri’s Birthday!!I With over 137 credits to his name, it’s really hard to pick out just a few.
I’ve thought of his music as the kind you could use for any major celebration or preparation. Can’t remember how beautiful things are? Try listening to “Bud on the Ledge” from The Abyss, while looking up at the stars. Trying to think of the right words to say about someone? Give “Obituary” from Serendipity a listen (which is one of my favorites). Want to retire the jersey of your favorite sports player, or your little one has graduated to the next grade? I can’t recommend Main On End from Avengers: Endgame quick enough for that. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I used the Back to the Future Overture (especially when the drums kick in at the 2 Minute mark) for motorcycle rides home.
Enjoy!
