Matt Vaughn’s back in the spy game with the Argylle Trailer
I was just thinking about Matthew Vaughn this morning, with the passing of Layer Cake's Michael Gambon. Vaughn's teamed up with Apple Films on Argylle, which looks like another spy caper similar to James Mangold's Knight and Day, as well as own Kingsman series. Argylle...

Barbie (dir. by Greta Gerwig)
I may be the wrong person to be writing about Barbie. As a guy, I can't really empathize with all of the elements of womanhood. I'll never experience childbirth, nor fully understand all of the issues women have to deal with (though watching the women...

I’m Just Ken (by Ryan Gosling)

Growing up in the 80s, I’ll admit to having had numerous bouts of breaking out into song while walking home from school and lamenting unrequited love. From Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, “I’m Just Ken” hits the mark so well here. In the theatre, the song (along with the dance number that accompanies it) had the theatre in laughs. Someone let Ryan Gosling make his own album already.

Lyrics:

Doesn’t seem to matter what I do
I’m always number two
No one knows how hard I tried, oh-oh, I
I have feelings that I can’t explain
They’re drivin’ me insane
All my life been so polite
But I’ll sleep alone tonight

‘Cause I’m just Ken
Anywhere else I’d be a ten
Is it my destiny to live and die a life of blonde fragility?
I’m just Ken
Where I see love, she sees a friend
What will it take for her to see the man behind the tan and fight for me?

You can, Ken
You can, Ken
You can, Ken

I wanna know what’s there to love
To feel the real thing
Is it a crime? Am I not hot when I’m in my feelings?
And is my moment finally here or am I dreaming?
I’m no dreamer

Ken, Ken, Ken
Can you feel the Ken-energy?
Feels so real, I guarantee
Can you feel the Ken-energy?
Feels so real, I guarantee
Ken
We are, you are, we are

I’m just Ken
Anywhere else I’d be a ten
Is it my destiny to live and die a life of blonde fragility?
I’m just Ken
Where I see love, she sees a friend
What will it take for her to see the man behind the tan and fight for me?

I’m just Ken and I’m enough
And I’m great at doing stuff
So, hey, check me out, yeah, I’m just Ken
My name’s Ken and so am I
Put that manly hand in mine
So, hey, well, check me out, I’m just Ken
Baby, I’m just Ken (Nobody else, nobody else)
